I’m not referring to a hair restoration process, but rather a lawn restoration procedure. Mid-August is an excellent time to start aerating and over-seeding to thicken up your lawns and athletic fields.
While we are still having some hot temperatures during the day, our night time temperatures are going down into the very pleasant range. Our cool-season grasses like these temperatures and should begin bouncing back from the heat stress they experienced in July. The morning dew will also aid the new seed in its germination.
For those that may be concerned that the day time temperatures are still too high, I can only suggest that our seeding window is short. If you wait until everything is perfect you will likely miss the window. Starting now will allow you to go out and core aerate all your clients. I would recommend putting down a bit more seed than you may have done otherwise. In the scheme of things grass seed costs are the least of your costs for providing these services.
